Careful Work, Clearly Explained
Tickwright is a one-technician workshop on Phuket dedicated to mechanical watch servicing and restoration. Every piece is assessed individually and handled with patience.

How Tickwright Came to Be
Tickwright opened on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Road in 2009, established by a watchmaker who had spent the previous decade working at service centres in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. The move to Phuket was deliberate — a quieter setting for focused bench work, away from high-volume repair pipelines.
The name reflects a straightforward philosophy: a wright builds and mends with skill and intention. Watches receive that same consideration here — no rush to close a ticket, no batch processing, no work handed between multiple technicians.
Over fifteen years, the workshop has built a steady clientele of collectors, expatriates, and visitors who bring pieces ranging from everyday wearers to decades-old movements that require sourcing of obsolete components. The common thread is that each job is given a proper assessment before any tools come out.
What We Stand For
-
No work begins without a written summary of findings. You see what was discovered and decide how to proceed.
-
Your watch is handled by the same technician from intake to collection. Continuity matters in restoration work.
-
Technical detail is available for those who want it, but all communication defaults to plain language first.
-
Completion windows are agreed in advance. If something unexpected arises, you hear about it before work continues.

Standards & Protocols
How the Workshop Operates
Written Assessment
Every watch receives a documented inspection summary. Findings, recommended actions, and estimated cost are set out in writing before any work proceeds.
Pressure & Seal Testing
After case assembly, water-resistant pieces are tested to verify gasket integrity. Results are noted in the service record.
Parts Sourcing Documentation
Replacement components are sourced from established suppliers and logged by reference. This creates a traceable record for future servicing.
Data Handling
Client contact details and service notes are held securely and used only for correspondence related to the relevant job. Nothing is shared with third parties.
Timing Regulation Check
All serviced movements are regulated on a timing machine across multiple positions before return. Readings are shared with the client on request.
Agreed Scope Only
Work does not extend beyond what was discussed and agreed. Any additional findings are raised with the client before any further action is taken.
Workshop Background
Phuket-Based Watch Repair with a Long View
Mechanical watches are maintained instruments. A movement that runs cleanly today will accumulate wear — dried oils, particulate debris, minor positional errors — that builds over years into something audible or visible. Addressing that before a piece stops working is considerably less disruptive than addressing it after.
Tickwright's location in Patong makes it accessible to both permanent residents and visitors spending time on the island. The workshop accepts pieces by walk-in, by appointment, and through arranged courier delivery for clients based elsewhere in Thailand or abroad.
The focus is mechanical: manual-wind and automatic movements, chronograph complications, and vintage pieces that benefit from hands-on attention rather than replacement. Quartz movements are assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on complexity and parts availability.
For restoration projects, the approach is staged. An initial assessment produces a scope document. Work proceeds in agreed phases, with updates between each one. This allows the client to make considered decisions at each stage rather than receiving a single invoice at the end.
